Scope
BLS Electrical delivered electrical works as part of upgrade and refurbishment works within the Ibis City of London hotel. The project focused on enhancing public-facing areas including the entrance, reception approach, lounge seating zones, social areas, and bar environments.
The completed space reflects a more contemporary hospitality setting, combining practical hotel operations with an improved customer experience through updated lighting, power infrastructure, and integrated finishes.
The Process
The objective was to modernise key customer areas within an active hotel environment while ensuring systems remained dependable and suitable for continuous commercial use.
Works required careful coordination within occupied premises, with attention given to guest experience, minimal disruption, programme management, and maintaining clean working standards throughout the project.
Electrical works delivered across the project included lighting upgrades, feature lighting installation, power distribution improvements, small power systems, bar and service area supplies, reception and lounge power provisions, switching arrangements, emergency lighting interfaces, testing, and final commissioning.
Installations were completed across entrance zones, lounge seating areas, circulation routes, bar spaces, front-of-house hospitality areas, and associated support locations.

Outcomes
Reception and Public Areas:
First impressions are critical within hotel environments. Public-facing areas required warm, welcoming lighting alongside dependable infrastructure for everyday guest use and hotel operations.
Lighting layouts were coordinated to improve atmosphere and visibility while complementing interior finishes, furniture layouts, and customer flow through the space.
Lounge and Social Spaces:
Shared guest areas were designed to support both short-stay use and longer dwell times, requiring balanced lighting, accessible power, and a comfortable overall environment.
Electrical systems were integrated discreetly to preserve the design intent while improving functionality for modern guest expectations.
Bar and Hospitality Zones:
Bar areas required dedicated power supplies for service equipment, refrigeration, display lighting, and front-of-house operations.
Works were delivered with close attention to neat finishing standards in areas fully visible to customers.
Outcome:
The completed refurbishment provides a stronger arrival experience and improved shared guest environment, with updated electrical systems supporting both customer comfort and hotel operations.
Lighting enhancements, upgraded infrastructure, and refined finishes contributed to a more contemporary hospitality space aligned with the expectations of a central London hotel.
